He can call himself a Republican if he likes, but at best he has reduced himself to RINO status. Saying that Obama was better "qualified" than McCain speaks volumes of exactly that. The man had no experience when compared to McCain. Heck, he had less experience than Palin. What he did and who he voted for in the past isn't the issue, it's where he stands now that Cheney was questioning, and I agree with Cheney.

Hey, if the republicans don't want him we'll take him in the democratic party!

If Republicans want to win elections, they should not be so quick to push out Powell and those who think like him. I joined the Republican party due to my economic philosophy, but have little reason to be associated with them any longer.

Agreed. Powell could be the unifier our party needs but he needs to make that very very clear...

I didn't think so, but I had to ask. Do you consider yourself an Independent?

I have no idea where you got that idea, as it is well know (by the Judge, Doc, Jafar, gringaloca, Pat, etc) that I consider myself a left-leaning moderate.
Perhaps you have me confused with someone else.

No, I was commenting on Ridge disagreeing with Cheney on the US being less safe under Obama than under Bush.

Ditto. He's served his country longer than I've been alive. He's a national hero and didn't run from service like Cheney or Bush did. I'd be happy if he joined the democratic party but I still have lots of questions about some of the things he did regarding the Iraq war situation.

They need their moderates now more than ever. They are making a huge mistake by narrowing their views even further. The republican party is become a very narrow minded bunch and the more people they disown the less likely they are to win elections.

I love his "when you've been asked to serve" comment...he is spot on, yet again.
Thumbs up on his "let's not be devisive" comments, too. If ever I were to transition over to the Republican party, Ridge and Powell could certainly speak for me.
