Considering that republicans far outnumber democrats and other political parties on this site the negativity towards Obama on this site is almost overwhelming. I've posted over 500 times trying to defend the other sides. I know there are other libs on here and I've invited some libs to this board. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get many libs to come here because they review the posts in the politics forums and see that the majority of the time it's me against everybody else. Now I'm not saying always. And Judge and the others have done a great job of keeping this all from getting too personal and I commend them for that. I just would like to say a few things that President Obama has promised and actually done and he's only been in office since January. I'm wondering if any of the republicans can say anything positive about this president or if no matter what I say, I will be disagreed with simply because of party lines. We've done a lot of talking about what he hasn't done but what about what he has?
1. Create a foreclosure prevention fund for homeowners.
Some of already commented that it failed when it only started in April.
2. Establish a credit card bill of rights...
I think we can all agree that credit card companies needed more regulation.
3. Expand Loan Programs for small businesses
4. Extend and index the 2007 alternative minimum tax patch
5. Expand eligibility for state childrens health insurance fund... SCHIP
6. Expand funding to train primary care providers and public health practitioners
7. Direct military leaders to end war in Iraq
8. Send two additional brigades to Afghanistan
9. Give a speech at a major Islamic forum in the first 100 days of his administration
10. Grant Americans unrestricted rights to visit family and send money to Cuba
11. Restore funding for the Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (Byrne/JAG) program
12. Release presidential records
13. Require new hires to sign a form affirming their hiring was not due to political affiliation or contributions.
14. Remove more brush, small trees and vegetation that fuel wildfires
15. Push for enactment of Matthew Shepard Act, which expands hate crime law to include sexual orientation and other factors
16. Create a White House Office on Urban Policy
17. Support increased funding for the NEA
18. Appoint an assistant to the president for science and technology policy
19. Fund a major expansion of AmeriCorps
20. Work to overturn Ledbetter vs. Goodyear
21. Appoint an American Indian policy adviser
22. Ban lobbyist gifts to executive employees
23. Weatherize 1 million homes per year
24. Invest in all types of alternative energy
25. Enact tax credit for consumers for plug-in hybrid cars
26. Support high-speed rail
27. Provide grants to encourage energy-efficient building codes
28. Appoint at least one Republican to the cabinet
29. Extend unemployment insurance benefits and temporarily suspend taxes on these benefits
30. Reverse restrictions on stem cell research
He also promised to get his girls a puppy and did.
Now this list is stuff that he has promised while campaigning and he followed through. This doesn't count the many other programs he is currently working on. I would say in the short time he has been in office he has been working his behind off. And I don't care if you liked Bush or not, Obama's record for keeping promises is beating what Bush did and he's not been in office a year yet. Now instead of going around talking about what he has lied about, can we not focus on the things he has promised and actually done? Do certain republicans have to live in this constant negative state towards President Obama? He is *our* president after all. When I hear people gripe about everything he does and now this cap and trade program stuff which has been figured will cost the average family a postage stamp a day. OMG! How horrible.
If we want to talk about liars, I can start a big ole list of them now. And they surely aren't all democrats....

I don't know how some people survive with such negativity in their lives. No wonder so many republicans are flipping out and killing people. 
Exactly L.M.., Obama seems to have flip floped/lied (oh, excuse me - I mean mis stated 
) on several campaign promises. Obama's suggesting of taxing of health care benifits seem to be just another one of these sugar coated lies (oh, mis statements..I'm sorry again, they are just sooooo similar
