Diarist's note: I apologize for the N-bomb. I am a white male and take offense to that term as well, but as we are all ADULTS (unlike the GOP and the RW base) we should be able to discuss all matters as adults, and that means discussing any and all matters within reason.

I imagine that every young African American who is denied the opportunity to see and hear the first African American President in America's long, proud and sad history on the first day of the school year will undoubtably guess sooner or later; "Is it because he is black? And if so, do they feel the same way about me?"

And my answer to that hypothetical question is Yes. It is because he is black.

President Barack Obama, who won the Presidency in a free and fair election by the American people despite claims to the contrary, has been called a Secret Muslim, a terrorist, a Kenyan, a socialist, a Nazi, a fascist, an Authoritarian, a despot, a dictator, a liar, a crook, a crony, a cheat, a racist and a reverse racist, he has been called everything but the one word that we know is behind all of the others and is on the tip of his most rabid opponenets tongues; A N-----.

"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country, unless the President is Black!"

I paraphrase, of course, the late and great President John F. Kennedy, who died at the hands of an assassins bullet after being demonized by the far right and it's John Birch Society conspiracy theory cranks.

Of course, if these words were spoken then by an African American President, well, that would have never happened. African Americans were barely citizens, barely had the right to vote or sit in a white man's restaurant, let alone run for or win the Presidency, but one could imagine that if an African American President at the time had said the same quote as JFK, it would be followed by the Republican addendum, unless the President is Black!".

In only 7 months, 7 Damned Months we have seen the following blatant acts of racism and race baiting by the Republican party, and not once, NOT ONCE, has a single adult among them stood up and said ENOUGH OF THIS, I WILL NOT ALLOW IT.

Not once.

The evidence to the GOP's racism and racist projection is both prolific and obvious.

It's time to call this crap what it is..... Racist12

Quote :
Wonkette notes that a racist e-mail was sent out by a legislative staffer for Tennessee GOP state senator Diane Black. The staffer, Sherplatfvormri Goforth, e-mailed this composite picture of the country’s 44 presidents, which represents President Obama with only a set of eyes:

It's time to call this crap what it is..... Racist13

Quote :
Of course, America's So Called Liberal Media/Right Wing Noise Machine has had it's own hand in the racism/race baiting game, including the perpetuation of the birthers by Fox and CNN's Lou Dobbs, who tipped his own so called Independant hand in this Gods awful moment.

Quote :
GOP politicians have not been ashamed of themselves enough to bite their tongues either. They praise right wing terrorists, they advocate violence and the threat of violence against those whom they oppose, they refuse to tell their base to act like adults and civilized people, and their base just goes farther and farther every day.

"I Want My Country White Back!!!!!"

Quote :
And the media does not call it out, other than a few hours a night on MSNBC. Instead, they ignore or encourage it.

Barack the Magic Negro Link

Rush calling Obama and Sotomayor Racists

Quote :
After the fair and free election where Americans overwhelmingly rejected the Republicans candidates and elected President Barack Hussein Obama, the GOP's media propaganda arm didn't stop the racism there. They can't help themselves. It is who they are. It defines them.

It's time to call this crap what it is..... Racist15

Quote :
And, of course, the coup de grâce

Quote :
And this is ONLY after 7 months into the first African Americans Presidency in US History. There is much I have missed and certainly more and worse to come. This makes me SICK AND MAD AS HELL, and it should make you mad, too.

By refusing to denounce and fire Glenn Beck, Fox News and News Corp has chosen to endorse Glenn Beck's racist projection and race baiting. By refusing to denounce racist statements made by their own party members, the GOP has chosen to endorse racism and race baiting. The only national African American figure, RNC Chairman Michael Steele, in the Republican party who might take offense at this has chosen to turn a blind eye to this racism. I wonder if Micheal understands that the moment he stands up to this blatant and obvious racism he is out on his ass. Fortunatly for Mr. Steele I am sure his landing will be cushioned by the big fat wallet in his back pocket.

It is obvious by now that one of the main objections to this President that his opposition has is rooted in his skin color and his ethnic heritage. The fact that he is Black has "broke their brains", thuugh, one must assume the average Republican still has a brain if they are hanging on to the elephants corpse still.

To deny this is naïve and/or foolish. I deeply dislike the phrase it is what it is, but it is. It is racist and the endorsement of racism. It is proof positive that the Republican party is racist and condones racism as a part of their political platform. To quote one Kossacks screen name Silence Is Complicity, and in this and many other cases, the GOP is guilty as hell.

So, let's decode the Conservative message if we can.

1. Obama is going to spread the wealth around, to lazy minorities like President Obama

2. Obama is a reverse racist and hates white people, because he is black and hates everyone who isn't like him, just like you.

3. Obama is a socialist who will give your hard earned money to brown people just like him.

4. Obama is NOT an American citizen, but in fact is a Kenyan and you can tell just by looking at him.

5. Obama is a fascist Nazi who wants to kill your grandmother, baby in a death panel and take all control in a violent tyranny that will kill millions and millions and end freedom tommorrowbecause we all know that people like him are violent.

Of course, I don't hold these views myself. This is just my poor attempt to peek into the shrinking minds of the few Republicans who are left in the GOP, an increasingly southern, old, white and uneducated party who is now encouraging parents to keep their children home from scholl instead of subjecting them to a speech by a Black President.

Amazingly, wingnut and OBVIOUSLY WHITE parents are going to oblige. Why?

Maybe it is because they can't trust their children with someone like that.

And all the non white children who go to school that day and don't see as many white students as they will the rest of the school year will know why. They may not know why exactly, but they will know.

Maybe the first questions we should ask Republicans when we engage them in conversation is how they feel about President Obama. I have a feeling their answer will tell us quite a bit about them and how they really feel.

So, as the elected GOP officials, the Right Wing Media outlets and Republican voters calls the legitamatly elected (unlike President George W. Bush {R/War Criminal-Texastan} President Obama a

A Cult of Personality
Elitist
Secret Muslim
Socialist
Communist
Marxist
Fascist
Nazi
Tyrant
Authoritarian
Oligar(c)h
Kenyan
Racist
Reverse racist
UnAmerican
Terrorist friendly
FEMA camp planning
Traitor
and Non American citizen

And worst of all as our fellow Kossack Vyan so clearly points Obama is a damn dirty Liberal

and who knows whatever hell the else they'll be calling him tommorrow, a week from now, a month from now or a year from now,

Just put in the one word they will NEVER speak except by accident, the one word we ALL KNOW is behind all the other names, the one word they dare not speak, and if one should, it will certainly go without consequences as Republicans and their voters sit silent, but their children will know, and they will not need it to be explained. The children are the closest thing to adults in that party.

and that word is soooo ugly I will not repeat it myself, once is too much.

My advice to you, Republican voters, elected officials and the right wing media, can be summed up in six simple words.

GROW UP AND GET OVER IT!

While it is extremely sad that so many are being partisan about the president's speech to children, I don't believe that most that oppose it do so because of race.

I should add that the last of the above quotes does nothing but widen the divide between that is already a chasm.

When all else fails(as Obama has) pull the old and tired race card.... Remember that a lot of folks you are calling racist voted for Obama... They just didn't get what they voted for.. The left just needs to grow up and get over it... They picked the wrong man....

Annie, I have to disagree with you. I guess when I have hung around with enough republicans who call him the n-word enough, I start to see what the underlying problem is. I'm not saying all republicans are this way because that's obviously not the case but when this much racism is coming out of certain groups that are clearly republican and the leaders of the republican party do absolutely nothing to call these people out....Well, let's just say the silence on the matter is deafening and the main reason is those who are not racist don't want to make the racist people in their party angry because they need every vote they can get, even if it's through racist channels. I call it like I see it and I see this sort of behavior on a weekly basis.

I have a democratic, racist uncle who calls him that, too. I'm not proud to say that but my point is that racism exists on both sides.

However, I don't believe that racism is at the heart of the issue here. Partisanship, yes. Sore loser syndrome? Maybe. Fear of the unknown? Maybe that, too.

I hate to say this, but I think the talking heads do much to make the issue worse. They need ratings, so they play on the fears of the public and play on innuendo and weak associations. They make mountains out of mole hills.

We're still in a very stressful situation, as a country. It's not been a decade since the worst terrorist attack on American soil. Our military (right or wrong) has been fighting on two fronts. Our economy is barely hanging on. Major steps (which have been controversial) have been taken to help the situation. People are just fearful of the unknown. Again, others have been playing on those fears. Likely, had McCain won and taken steps to prop up the economy or to make substantial changes to healthcare (or a similar issue), then people would be fearful and a whole new set of talking heads would play off of that fear.

It's the left thats doing the labeling.. When you try to pigeon hole a group by calling them racist, fear mongers, red necks, you can expect a more rigorous defense...

There are examples, yes. But I have plenty of friends that did NOT vote for Obama who I know aren't racist. Lumping them all together is part of the problem.

I guess I didn't make myself clear. I'm not saying ALL of them are racist but I do find a problem with the non-racist of the Republican party not speaking out against the racist members of the party. There is a lack of respect and like I said, saying nothing is like silently condoning the behavior. When these racists emails and horrible comments have been made, they should have been immediately slapped down publicly. If you knew how many of these emails that my family and friends get that are VERY racist at work, etc.. and the things that are giggled about during water cooler talk.. I talked to my husband about this last night and he is one of the most level-headed people I've ever known. I asked him what he thought about the "underlying problem with racism" regarding this president. He flatly said "I don't think there is anything underlying about it." If someone like him who is generally quiet and not as involved in politics as I am says something like that, well, I believe it.

Exactly. Racism is not a GOP problem, it is an AMERICAN problem. Pointing fingers and blaming one side for racism does not solve anything. ALL Americans need to look into the mirror and admit their own prejudices.

I agree with this too. I think America as a whole has a problem with talking frankly about the issue of race and racism. There is also a confusion that any discussion of race constitutes racism, when it does not. Far to many Americans feel that so long as they do not overtly discriminate on the basis of race, that race-related issues are solved or are non-existent. I feel that prejudice and discrimination have embedded themselves in American institutions and society and that those prejudices and discriminatory practices need to be recognized before they can be destroyed. But, again, I agree, America needs a lot of self-reflection on this issue.

Actually it is a universal problem... Racism didn't start in America... Can't think of a single country where racism does not exist....

I guess I'm not getting the answers that I had hoped for. My main issue with this is the republicans lack of concern for the racism exhibited by their party members. Where is the outcry from the republican leaders calling these people out and telling them that they are wrong? They don't dare cross the Limbaughs of their party. They are too busy kissing their behinds. That's the problem I have. Of course there are racists in every party, every culture, etc. but when the republican party has members who are so blatantly racist and they sit in silence and pretend like it's not happening...like I said before, their silence condones this sort of behavior because they want those racists votes and it makes me puke

"Maybe this XXXXX should shut up and learn his place" is one of numerous racist hate-filled comments posted on YouTube attacking me, a black Conservative, for writing the "American Tea Party Anthem". And who is spewing this racist hate? So-called tolerant Liberals.

But how can this be? According to the bias media, liberal democrats are saviors saintly protecting blacks from evil rich white conservative republicans. Regretfully, their "devoid of the truth" marketing plan has been extremely successful. For generations, like zombies, blacks award liberal democrats 90% of their vote.

Like the woman in the old diet infomercial, I want to scream to my fellow blacks, "STOP THE INSANITY! Liberals democrats are NOT OUR FRIENDS!" They want to keep us on their "you're a victim" plantation. Simply put, Liberal democrats HATE 'uppity' blacks who achieve without their programs such as Affirmative Action.

Any evidence that the left is not racist???? Their silence on the issue must mean they condone it...

Or the main Democrat politicians running for office line.... "Don't vote for that mean Republican because he will take away your government check"... Laughing

How funny that you once again change the subject. We aren't talking about democrats right now, we are talking about republicans. Denying and ignoring that your party has more prejudice and closet racists just shows how much of a problem it is for your party. Since you and others in your party are such champions for African-Americans, when was the last time you contacted your representative to let them know your disgust with the blatant racist pictures, etc that have been passed around by people in your party? The last time you got one of those horrible forwarded emails from some redneck who has your email address, did you write back and tell him to quit sending you such disgusting, putrid false information? The problem with the republican side is their silence is deafening on the subject of race. As President Carter said, instead of our country moving forward with an African American president, it is actually making your average every day white persons closeted bigotry come boiling up to the surface. Before it was embarrassing admitting you were a racist because of all the horrible things that happened to minorities in our past. Now people like Rush, who is now supporting segregating school buses, has made it ok for people to speak out what they've been thinking all along. It's not become acceptable in the republican party to go to Washington DC and carry around horrible signs with racists threats and confederate flags, when all of those people know what the confederate flag represents to black people in this country. I will admit that people have the right to be pissed off at the state of our country but their main problem is they are being fed lies about WHO to be pissed at. Angry about money being dumped down some giant bottomless pit? Don't get angry at health-care reform, get mad at Wall Street. Make signs of CEO's from these greedy, blood-sucking corporations as the joker. Get mad at the RIGHT PEOPLE! Instead, Dick Armey and the like are telling them to get mad at our President who isn't to blame for this mess. Probably because Dick wants to keep on getting that "nice pile of dough" he commented on. He doesn't care about the people, he just wants the status quo because it's made him stinking filthy rich and by the time our health care is unaffordable to the general public, he'll be in some fancy retirement community with a full time nurse to wipe his behind. I just feel so sorry for the misled thousands. Too bad their man power couldn't be used to make real changes for people like themselves. They are too busy propping up the people who got us in this shape to begin with. No
